My Best Friend
More than 50 years ago on a cold winters day
Leaning up against a building that was the color of gray
Her hair sparkled in the sun as the wind blew gently all around
The baby was sleeping and not making a sound
I said, I don't know a soul here and I need to make friends
So maybe if we try out personalities will blend
My name is Sheila I'm new in the neighborhood
She said my name is Sheila and I think that we could
So a friendship that spanned more than a half of century ago
We've been there for each other in the highs and the lows
So what is a friendship, what's the meaning to me?
It's that special feeling of love you see
It's the feeling of pain and comfort when a friend is in need
It's knowing the time to reach out and knowing the mind to read
To share the sun and the moon and see the stars shine at night
To share the glory of a kiss and holding you tight
How lucky I was that cold winters day
How luck I was that we're still friends today
With my deepest love for a dearest friend
