Beatrice Skydell

Obituary of Beatrice Skydell

Beatrice Skydell of Delray Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024.

Beatrice was born in 1931 in Morristown, NJ to Albert & Lena Brunnlieb. She attended school in Morristown and completed part of a bachelor’s degree at Trenton State College.

Beatrice met her loving husband, Murray, in 1950 and married shortly afterward. Together they had three children Jeffrey Skydell of Hawaii, Ann Skydell Harmon of Florida and Richard Skydell of New Jersey. She was blessed with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Beatrice followed in her mother’s footsteps in business. She and Murray ran Skydell Stationers in Somerville NJ before opening a doll shoppe in Middlesex NJ. “Bea Skydell’s Dolls & Toys” was her pride and joy. She worked with doll artists from around the world, often sponsoring doll and plush bear shows.

Through the years Beatrice was active at her synagogue. She was a true leader and often was elected President of the shul.

Beatrice was an amazing woman who touched many people throughout her life. She made life-long friends with many of them. She loved to cook and entertain and did that often.

Beatrice was laid to rest next to her husband at Temple Sholom Cemetery in Bridgewater Township, NJ. Her funeral was followed by a celebration of her life by both family and friends.

As the rabbi at the funeral said, the body is a vessel with a finite life–whereas the soul lives on beyond someone’s passing. Her soul will be remembered for eternity.

Remembrances can be accessed at shiva.com/trees-for-israel.  She also favored several charities,  Wounded Warriors  being one of them.
