Obituary of Dorothy Rabinowitz

Dorothy Rabinowitz, 95, of Tinton Falls, NJ died peacefully at home October 31, 2020.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan and later resided in Brooklyn, New York until she and her late husband Jesse Rabinowitz moved to Lakewood, New Jersey in the 1950s. She and her husband were an integral part of the growing Jewish community in Lakewood, and long-time members of Congregation Sons of Israel. Dorothy worked with her husband running their family business, Painting Systems, Inc. which served the local area as the primary painting company for new construction homes and many of the retirement communities in Ocean County, including Leisure Village, a Country Place and Coventry Square in Lakewood. After her husband’s death in 2005, she moved to Greenbriar in Toms River, then retired to Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls where she enjoyed many of the activities. Mrs. Rabinowitz loved music, playing canasta with her friends, reading novels and watching movies. She and her late husband were married for 57 years. She was a particularly devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert and her daughter-in-law, Judy Rabinowitz of Ocean Township, two grandchildren, Rebecca Akabas of Washington, D.C. and Sarena Rabinowitz of Brooklyn, New York, and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Ezra.

Donations in Dorothy's honor may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.  Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.
