Obituary of David M. Fried
David M. Fried of Lakewood, NJ and Chevy Chase, MD passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017, at the ripe young age of 98. Mr. Fried grew up in New York City, spent summers in Coney Island selling ice cream and joined the Army Air Corps in 1942, before moving to Lakewood in 1951. Mr. Fried was an active member of both the Lakewood and Brick Township communities as a private citizen and a public servant having served as Executive Director of the Housing Authority for each township. He also was a Member of the Lakewood Board of Education, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Commissioner for the State Investment Council for the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System for the State of New Jersey. He was a fervent supporter of the Lakewood Police Department until the end. Mr. Fried was also the co-founder and president of Digby Manufacturing Co., Inc. and LLB Fashions, Inc.
Always a family man, he was the devoted husband of the late Ethyl Safran Fried, the loving father of Barbara Weese (Jim), the late Michael Fried, Lois Fried, Ken Fried (Isaree) and Rob Lawson (Jan); beloved grandfather of Brooke Weese (Ben Weinraub), Scott Weese, Zachery Fried (Ali), Spencer Fried (Emily) and Harleigh Fried; and great-grandfather of Alexander, Zoe and Isabella Fried.
Graveside Funeral Services will take place on Sunday, July 2nd, 10:00am at Beth Olam Memorial Park Lakewood.
